Launching this September, Grounded is a new event series exploring the relationship between landscape, farmers, and food, bringing together the people who grow and raise what we eat with the chefs who put it on the plate.
The first instalment pairs Strickley Farm with The Black Bull, Sedbergh. For six generations, the Robinson family have farmed Strickley, a 300-acre organic dairy farm on the edge of the Lake District, free from artificial fertilisers and pesticides for 16 years, with ancient hedgerows, wildflower meadows, protected watercourses, and native Dairy Shorthorn cattle producing milk bottled on-site. The farm’s regenerative approach has won national recognition, including the Silver Lapwing Award.
Guests will walk the land with the Robinsons, then enjoy two meals showcasing its produce, lunch by the farm’s lake and dinner at The Three Hares. The day is hosted by James Robinson (Strickley’s farmer and chair of the Nature Friendly Farming Network England) and Nina Matsunaga, award-winning chef of The Black Bull.
