The Black Bull’s Head Chef, Nina Matsunaga, is gearing up to celebrate an aspect of her Japanese heritage… World Sushi Day.
Join us in the Black Bull Barn at 2pm or at 4pm on 15th June, as our Head Chef Nina, treats guests to a selection of traditional Japanese snacks with a twist. Nina will lovingly craft a selection of tasty bitesize morsels using a selection of ingredients; including her own homemade miso, you can rest assured these tempting treats will intrigue and tantalise your palate.
You can also sample a drop or two of fermented rice wine and discover the huge variety and complexity of this naturally brewed Japanese beverage as our resident wine expert James spends a little time chatting about the history and variations to be found in this most complex of drinks.
During the afternoon two of the North of England’s leading multi-award winning ceramicists; Martin and Siobhan Miles-Moore, will also demonstrate the breath-taking Japanese art form of Raku pottery firing so you too can discover the Zen of this most ancient of art forms and learn why Raku it is one of the most natural processes in pottery, making use of all of nature's elements… earth, fire, air, and water….
Places are strictly limited to 12 people per session and are available on a first come first served basis.
